The Haircut

Today is the day.

For the first time in years I went to a high end salon and paid full price for my haircut.

Not that I haven't had some amazing haircuts over the years. I am fortunate enough to befriend stylists who work from their home and have done some beautiful deeds for dirt cheap. Most recently my good friend graduated from hair school and with a bright future ahead of her I'm so lucky I get to be her muse.

However, with her winter trip to the tropics and my cross country flight to spend the season with my in-laws, I found myself out of the time and in desperate need of an update before the holidays. Luckily, a childhood friend who has opened a new salon had a last minute cancellation and she gave me first crack at it.

I have to confess the decision to book the appointment was not easy. When I told my all too supportive husband I would be tweaking the holiday budget to fit in the cut and color, I didn't get the most sincere of encouragements. Admittedly, in my old age and with hopes of a home purchase on the horizon I am having an incredibly hard time parting with money. Who knew I would eventually reach this level of responsibility.

Well, not fully responsible. I booked it anyway. There is just something about a good haircut that makes a girl feel invincible and with the encouragement from my bestie who told me, in short to "shut up and book it" I spoiled myself and worked it out.

Huge huge love for Nicole at Revive Hair Loft (780-425-8885). This girl has been showcasing her skills with hair since her and my sister would dress up in middle school and she knocked my update out of the park. I cannot wait to rock this brunette look in every picture taken this holiday season. I seriously urge you to check out her southside salon when you want to treat yourself too, she is absolutely worth the wait to book (she's booking into late February) or book with one of her trendy stylists to get in sooner.
